A building's main meter tells you how much the whole uses. It never tells you where, when, or by which home. To manage consumption and raise awareness you need finer measurement, without committing to the heavy work of fitting a sub-meter to every home.
The limits of the main meter
A single figure, read monthly or quarterly: there is no way to tell one home from another, or to understand what makes consumption move. The manager knows the building uses “a lot”, without knowing where to act or how to measure the effect of anything they do.
Sub-meters: precise but heavy going
Fitting a sub-meter to each home's water riser gives complete measurement, but requires plumbing work, installation and maintenance costs, and regular readings. That makes sense in new build, where meters are required anyway, and is far heavier to roll out across an existing, occupied portfolio.

The alternative: measuring at the point of use
Rather than measuring all the water in a home, you measure where it matters most: the shower, the largest single use of hot water. The Molleaumètre screws onto the hose in a few minutes, with no tools and no water shut-off. What the manager sees

In the pilot we ran in a student residence with Hénéo, where the occupants stay the same, the before and after comparison showed a fall of 23% per shower and 15.5% on the main meter. Above all, this measurement acts as it observes: the light ring informs the resident during their shower, which reduces consumption, where a meter merely counts.
